ANOUNCEMENT
The Japan Architectural Renderers Association (JARA) was founded in 1980 as the country’s first professional architectural illustrators’ organization. In this year of 2010, it celebrates the 30th anniversary of its founding.

The JARA is a non-profit professional organization of architectural visual communicators. Our goals are to foster social status in the architectural community as a professional occupation, to raise the standards of architectural visualization skills, and to educate the next and future generations.

Since 1980, hallmarks of our achievements are the JARA anniversary events, including international competitions and exhibitions – the Tenth in 1990, the Twentieth in 2000 and Twenty-fifth in 2005. None of these significant events could have occurred without receiving generous sponsorship and willing collaboration from many distinguished architects, government officials and private organizations.

For 2010, the JARA is very proud to publicly announce a global invitation for entries to the 30th Anniversary International Open Competition and exhibition of architectural visualization. The principal theme is “Draw the Museum.”

The Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Japanese Association for Conservation of Architectural Monuments have agreed to provide background information and original architectural plans of historically well-known Museum buildings for the competition. Six jury members, whose offices have designed Museums, have also agreed to provide information about their buildings. Such information is not generally accessible to the public. The JARA acknowledges the important contributions of these agencies and firms, and are most grateful for their expert participation.

The JARA expects that all participants will learn and acquire an understanding of traditional Japanese architecture, history, culture, and the aesthetics of these museums, from the information provided. The competition will also offer an open category, which will provide the freedom to complete work from your own imagination and fantasy design.

Any entry receiving more than one vote from any jury member will be included in the exhibition, and each work will be displayed with a comment from jury members. The 30th Anniversary Competition Exhibition will travel to Nagoya and Osaka, after the Tokyo Premiere event in September 2010.

The JARA has set the stage for you, and it is all yours. Please do not miss this opportunity for your drawing to dance. The JARA looks forward to receiving numerous entries from many illustrators worldwide.
